Job description:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced head chef to manage and run a busy lunch time kitchen for a Restaurant & Bar located in the beautiful ski resort of Meribel in the French Alps. As the only business in the resort open year-round this is a unique opportunity to develop your career overseas in an incredible part of the world.

As Head Chef you will be expected to lead a team of four turning out 100+ covers on a daily basis from our lunch time à la carte menu. The right candidate must be experienced working in fast paced, high volume restaurants serving freshly made dishes to a consistently high standard while also handling all the other aspects of kitchen management such as hygiene, ordering and staff.

This is a long-term position and would suit someone with a love of the outdoors looking for a new and exciting lifestyle with an interest in developing their career alongside our growing business.

Responsibilities:

Menu/dish creation and costings
Monitor and control the consistency of our product
Oversee and direct the food preparation process demonstrating a high standard of practice.
Ensuring a smooth and effective service nonstop from lunch through to dinner.
Monitoring stock levels and be responsible for the daily ordering of stock and fresh produce.
Undertake regular stock control procedures.
Attend weekly management meetings and report back on all areas of the kitchen operations (staffing/maintenance/service/customer feedback).
Working alongside our evening head chef to ensure both lunch and evening menus are aligned and cost effective
Working alongside the FOH manager with a view to maintaining good working relations between the kitchen brigade and the FOH team.
Requirements:

Must have an EU passport
A minimum of 2 years Full Time experience as a Head chef or Sous Chef in a restaurant brigade.
Experience of cooking an à la carte menu with a passion for good food
Experience in cooking French and International cuisine with prior experience and/or knowledge of local Savoyard specialities.
A strong command of English.
A basic understanding of the French language is desirable but not essential as you will be given on the job assistance.
Health & safety and hygiene certifications
PC literate for Excel and Word
An understanding of kitchen finances, costings and budgeting
