Salary:Dependent on experience. Paid weekly, plus share of tips, work place pension.
Hours:approx 36
Days:5 days out of 7, daytime shifts
Holidays:Statutory (28 days p/a)
Covers:Lunch: up to 100 in Summer; Dinner: n/a; Breakfast: up to 30 in Summer; Functions: up to 100 (outside catering)

Full-time chefs:1 part time (day off cover) + 2 part time kitchen assistants in Summer

Are you looking for a lifestyle change but still passionate about good food?

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic chef to work in our busy café kitchen in Jedburgh.

We are currently open in the daytime only, but may consider a couple of evenings a week in the summer subject to your agreement.

We are looking for someone with proven experience of producing food to an excellent standard, but equally important are your personal qualities - you have a ‘can do’ attitude, and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and work with the wider team to complete hygiene/cleaning tasks.

Our food is Scottish based, but you have the opportunity to make your mark on the menu and the café, particularly with the development of daily specials.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen. You may not have formally held a head chef role before but you will have:

• relevant kitchen experience and certification;
• experience of maintaining kitchen hygiene and health and safety regulations;
• experience of managing stock control/ordering;
• experience of creating and costing menus, including special group bookings and outside catering events;
• a good understanding of food allergens and tailoring dishes to meet special dietary requirements.

The position is available from mid December onwards.
