| Job description: | The St Columba Hotel is located on a very beautiful island off the West Coast of Scotland. Our hotel has 27 bedrooms and a restaurant which serves up to 80 for dinner and many more at lunchtime. We are committed to serving freshly prepared, delicious food. Our certified organic garden produces much of our salad and vegetables; breads and baking are produced on the premises, we buy meat from local organic farms, and we buy fish and seafood directly from a local boat. The quality of our food is central to the hotel’s reputation and our kitchen is a busy place. We are looking for a Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. The right candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and have good communication skills and attention to detail. We require a high standard of work and an excellent level of customer care from all our staff. Previous experience within a commercial kitchen is advantageous but not essential, however a willingness to learn, a good work ethic, and a genuine passion for food are all essential requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to live and work in a beautiful and unique place. You will be expected to work a mixture of split and straight shifts, and will have two days off per week, as well as paid holidays. The hotel is seasonal and this position is available until the middle of November, though that may be extended slightly.
