Job description: | Lochaline Community Café Manager Job Description Our Café Our café is the heart of our recently built timber frame community building in the heart of the village of Lochaline on the west coast of Scotland. It has stunning views towards Ardtornish Castle and across the sound of Mull. As well as being very popular with tourists who visit in the summer, the café is of huge importance socially, culturally and financially to the local community for the well-being of those who live here, supporting local businesses and bringing people together. We may be a small(ish) community but we are a vibrant, busy and exciting one and have also good transport links to Mull, Oban, Fort William and beyond. There is also a lot to do right here with well over thirty different groups from the watersports club to the allotments to music to yoga to heritage and to knitting. So what are you waiting for? Proposal Morvern Community Trading Company is looking to employ a Community Café Manager whose responsibilities will include: • Development of a business plan with Operations Manager • General management of the café • Overseeing and meeting budgets • Keeping accurate financial records • Create menus and vary on a regular basis • Staff recruitment and management • Ordering food, drink and ingredients • Ensuring the café runs smoothly • Highest standards of cleanliness are achieved • Keeping the café solvent • Promote local crafts and local makers • Meeting all statutory food hygiene, safety and quality requirements Expectation: To be open a minimum of 6 days a week in mid-season and summer months (April-October) and 3 days a week off -season (November-March). The café manager would be expected as minimum to break-even making sure the takings cover the weekly float with the aim to make a profit during the summer months that could be invested back into the café and the hub to make it more efficient and amenable. Evening meals could also be explored subject to demand and additional hours created for this. What is in it for you?
