2nd Cook required for Bishops House, Isle of Iona

An excellent opportunity to join our small team for the 2026 season on the beautiful historic Scottish Isle of Iona. With its white sandy beaches, turquoise seas, and stunning views then we could be the place for you.

Located on the Isle of Iona, off the west coast of Scotland, Bishop’s House is a retreat house that can take up to 23 guests at a time, we pride ourselves on providing good quality home cooked meals and fresh afternoon baking.

You would work along with our head cook on all aspects of the kitchen from menu planning, ordering and kitchen hygiene. We have a set menu that you would put together along with our head cook, we cater for up 23 guests + staff daily. Applicants should be experienced in cooking for similar numbers

£15 per hour, 39 hours per week worked in split shifts with two days off. We offer a good work life balance so you can enjoy being on Iona, you will have your own bedroom with shared bathroom and sitting room.

We are a charity, run by the Scottish Episcopal Church, and our global reputation means that guests from around the world will be enjoying you’re cooking and baking.

You'll need to be able to respect the Christian ethos of the House, and in turn, you and your contribution will be valued in what is a positive, respectful, and friendly environment.

Start date is March 2nd and runs till early November.

Lochaline Community Hub Café Cook and Manager Job Description
Looking for a new challenge, always wanted to move the beautiful West Coast of Scotland?
We are looking for a café cook and manager to work approximately 37.5 hours a week, mainly in the daytime, no more than 4 days per week.
We may have affordable accommodation too for the right candidate.
Our Café
Our café is the heart of our recently built glass and timber frame community building in the heart of the village of Lochaline on the west coast of Scotland. It has stunning views towards Ardtornish Castle and across the sound of Mull.
As well as being very popular with tourists who visit in the summer, the café is of huge importance socially, culturally and financially to the local community for the well-being of those who live here, supporting local businesses and bringing people together.
We provide a simple homemade café offering, cakes, bakes, soup sandwiches and a hot meal one evening a week. We have a barista coffee machine, with experienced front of house staff and a licence to sell alcohol. We sell local arts and crafts in support of micro businesses in our community.
Proposal
Morvern Community Trading Company is looking to employ a Community Café Cook and Manager whose responsibilities will include:
• General management of the café and staff aligned to business plan
• Create menus and vary on a regular basis
• Bake cakes and tray bakes, make soup and sandwiches
• Prepare a simple hearty evening meal once a week
• Provide options for vegetarians, vegan and other dietary requirements
• Order food, drink and ingredients
• Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety are achieved.
• Promote local crafts and local makers
• Work with the licence holder to maintain licence requirements
Expectation:
To be open a minimum of 4 days a week in mid-season and summer months (April-October) and 3 days a week off -season (November-March) including one evening per week.
