National Minimum Wage Rise April 2026

 

The national living wage, the minimum amount for workers over the age of 21, is set to rise by 4.1 per cent to £12.71 an hour in April 2026. It is currently £12.21 an hour.

Workers aged 18 to 20 will get an 8.5 per cent pay rise from April 2026, taking the minimum wage to £10.85 an hour. School-aged workers between 16 and 17 and those on apprenticeships will receive a 6 per cent increase, taking pay to £8.

Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, announced on the eve of her second budget that she would accept pay recommendations from the Low Pay Commission (LPC), the independent body that advises the government on wages.
